Individualised physiotherapy for horses and dogs

Veterinary physiotherapy supports the health, mobility, performance and quality of life of animals across every stage of life.

My philosophy is centred around assessment-led treatment, individualised care and working collaboratively with owners, riders, trainers and veterinary professionals.

I combine evidence-informed physiotherapy with practical experience to ensure every treatment is purposeful, appropriate and relevant to the animal's lifestyle.

Whether the goal is performance, rehabilitation, preventative care or maintaining quality of life, my focus remains the same: understanding the individual, identifying the underlying factors and supporting the body towards better function.

The Assessment

What does a treatment involve?

Every appointment begins with a thorough assessment. This allows me to understand the animal's history, lifestyle, workload and any concerns identified by the owner, rider or veterinary professional.

For horses

Assessment may include static assessment, palpation and dynamic movement assessment where appropriate.

For dogs

Assessment may include observation of posture, gait, movement patterns and functional mobility, alongside discussion of daily activity, previous injuries or veterinary diagnosis.

Treatment is then tailored to the individual animal and may incorporate a combination of the following techniques.

Techniques

A combination of approaches, tailored to the individual

Manual Therapy

Hands-on physiotherapy forms an important part of my practice.

Techniques may include massage, soft tissue mobilisation, myofascial release, effleurage and targeted mobilisation techniques to support tissue quality, circulation, comfort and range of movement.

Manual therapy allows me to assess how tissues are responding throughout treatment and adapt my approach accordingly.

Manipulation and Mobilisation

Where clinically appropriate, specific mobilisation and manipulation techniques may be incorporated into treatment to support joint mobility and musculoskeletal function.

These techniques are always selected following assessment and applied appropriately to the individual animal.

WINBACK Tecar Therapy

WINBACK tecar therapy is an advanced modality that can be incorporated into treatment plans for both horses and dogs.

Using radiofrequency energy, tecar therapy works to support tissue circulation, cellular activity and the body's natural recovery processes. It can be particularly useful within rehabilitation, recovery and performance maintenance.

Treatment is tailored according to the individual animal and the area being addressed.

Laser Therapy

Laser therapy may be used to support pain management, tissue healing and recovery.

It can form part of a rehabilitation programme or be incorporated alongside manual therapy to support musculoskeletal health and function.

PEMFT

Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMFT) is another modality available within treatment where appropriate.

PEMFT may be used to support circulation, tissue recovery and musculoskeletal wellbeing, depending on the individual animal's presentation and treatment goals.

Stretching and Mobility Work

Appropriate stretches and mobility exercises may be introduced as part of treatment, helping to support flexibility, movement quality and body awareness.

These are tailored specifically to the animal and are designed to be practical for owners to continue safely at home.

Beyond The Appointment

Supporting you beyond the appointment

Physiotherapy doesn't stop when the treatment session ends. Following an appointment, I provide owners with practical recommendations to help support their animal between visits, including stretches, mobility exercises, exercise adjustments or management advice.

For horses and dogs requiring ongoing rehabilitation, I can provide structured recommendations to support continued progress at home.
